Provides religious and social services for Deaf Persons, using sign language as the principle means of communication

  Religious Education Programs:
    For Deaf children:
    PS 47 School for the Deaf (Manhattan) - Wednesday 1:30 - 2:30
    Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church - (White Plains) - Fourth Sunday of every month after 2:00 Mass
    St. Joseph's School for the Deaf (Bronx) - Friday 11:30 - 12:30
    St. Elizabeth's Church (Manhattan) - Sunday 1:00 - 2:00
    For Deaf adults:
    Classes in the Catholic faith on first and third Sundays each month at 1:00
    Preparation for Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation
    Training for Eucharistic Ministers
    Meetings of Deaf Cursillistas
    Classes for Deaf parents before the baptism of their children
    Bible Study classes on First and Third Sundays each month at 3:30.

    Subway: # 4, 5, 6 to 86 Street Station, walk 3 blocks south and 1 block east.
    Bus: north or south buses on 1st, 2nd, 3rd , Lexington or Madison Avenues.

    Church Council is made up of Deaf and hearing persons and provides guidance for the programs of the Church
    Tuesday Club for Deaf Senior Citizens meets every Tuesday from 9:30 to 3:30.
    Puerto Rican Society for the Catholic Deaf:      
     YDAC-Young Deaf Adult Club is a group of Deaf parents from the church who meet to plan social activities for children, families and church memebers..
     Sign Language Classes and Interpreter Training are offered for 3 times during the year.  For further information, dates, fees, etc. go to

    St. Joseph's School for the Deaf Alumni Association has meetings and social affairs as needed.
